DOD RFID Labels (Mil-Std-129P)

MSL for DOD RFID UID and WAWF

DOD RFID UID and WAWF Compliant

DOD RFID Label Formats included in Std-Barc support flexible RFID-tagged packaging options:

Advance Shipment Notice included in Std-Barc simplifies submittal of RFID data to Wide Area Workflow (WAWF). Use the RFID data file, or RFID Load Manager for automated electronic submittal of the Advance Shipment Notice (ASN) to WAWF.

Built-In RFID Verification ensures the readability of every RFID label as it is printed.   Std-Barc to uses the RFID reader built into thermal transfer printers to verify the encoding of each RFID tag as it is printed.  As each label is printed, the RFID serial number is first written to the RFID tag, then read from the tag. Only then is the RFID Tag ID printed on the label.

Requirements for DOD RFID Mandate Compliance

  • RFID Tags / Labels - An RFID Tag must be placed on each exterior container (case) and pallet as specifically required on defense contracts. In 2008, this requirement will expand to include unit containers for UID-marked items. Mil-Pac fully supports this requirement. The RFID Tag may be applied directly to packaging or embedded in labels such as the exterior container label or Military Shipment Label (above left).

  • RFID Tag Verification - Each RFID tag must be verifiable at time of shipment. Quality Assurance Representatives (QARs) may require on-demand demonstration of RFID tag readability as a condition
    acceptance.

  • WAWF Data Entry - The contents of each RFID-tagged container, and their relationship to each other (UID in case or pallet) must be communicated to Wide Area Workflow (WAWF). This may be accomplished at time of shipment via manual data-entry into the WAWF web application or transmission of an electronic data interchange (EDI).
